Steptoe & Johnson Attorneys Honored by the Department of Defense with Patriot Award

Morgantown, WV – The Office of the Secretary of Defense recognized Steptoe & Johnson PLLC CEO Christopher L. Slaughter and firm Members Brian D. Gallagher and J. Brooke Kamicker with the Patriot Award. The award is given to supervisors who support reservists and guardsmen by offering flexible schedules, time off before and after deployment, care for families, and granting leaves of absence if needed. The award recipients were nominated by Robert Thompson, a member of the firm’s 2023 Fall Class.

The Patriot Award is one of the awards of the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) award series. These awards are intended to recognize employers who support guard and reserve employees, ultimately strengthening relationships between service members and employers. ESGR is a Department of Defense office that was established in 1972 to promote cooperation and understanding between reserve members and their civilian employers and to assist in the resolution of conflicts arising from an employee’s military commitment.
