This presentation will explore the critical intersection of mental health, legal frameworks, and accommodation in the workplace, as well as some bonus hot topics on current OSHA initiatives. We will discuss potential privacy concerns regarding the confidentiality of mental health information and how an employer can interact within those laws while also navigating physician/patient privilege. From a safety and health perspective, the presentation will cover OSHA’s proposed standard on heat illness and prevention, as well as OSHA’s walkaround rule. We’ll also explore what OSHA expects from employers regarding the workplace hazard of mental health. Attendees will gain insights into important case scenarios that shape mental health rights and employer responsibilities and leave with practical strategies to foster a supportive work environment that prioritizes mental well-being while ensuring legal compliance.
