Adam S. Ennis

Biography

Adam Ennis is a seasoned commercial litigator and construction lawyer. His practice involves three areas: (1) business disputes involving breach of contract or allegations of unfair competition, tortious interference with contractual relations and fraud; (2) litigation arising in the construction of industrial, commercial and retail facilities, including oil and gas pipelines, gas processing plants, shopping centers, hospitals and education buildings; and (3) issues arising in oil and gas development, including matters involving leases, royalties, rights-of-way, farmout agreements, purchase and sale agreements, and other energy related contracts. In addition to construction and energy, Adam has worked with a variety of industries including financial services, real estate, technology, manufacturing, pharmaceuticals and health care. In addition to his vast experience in federal and state court cases, Adam has successfully handled many commercial arbitrations and mediations. He is a member of the firm’s Energy Litigation, Construction and Business Litigation practice groups. From 2014 through 2017, Adam was Adjunct Professor at the University of Pittsburgh School of Law, where he taught Trial Advocacy. He is a member of Leadership Pittsburgh XXXVI. In law school, he was Executive Editor of the Cardozo Law Review.

  • Represented a Scandinavian manufacturer of accessibility products in a dispute against a former U.S. based marketing representative
  • First chair in disputes involving the construction of oil and gas pipelines, gas processing facilities, and well pads
  • Successfully handled oil and gas lease disputes and cases involving the purchase and sale of energy assets
  • Represented owners, contractors, and subcontractors in construction litigation involving defect allegations, mechanics’ liens, prompt payment act claims, liability for delay, and business interruption
  • Handled professional liability cases involving complex claims against accountants, attorneys, and engineers
  • Successfully litigated numerous injunction proceedings involving employee restrictive covenants and trade secrets
  • Represented financial institutions in contract disputes, equitable subordination claims, and other commercial litigation
  • Represented title insurance companies and their insured in boundary and lien priority disputes
