Biography
When clients work with Glenn Thompson, they quickly realize that he has their best interest at heart and will go out of his way to help them. Building on his lengthy career in real estate and mineral title law, Glenn now works with energy clients in the developing renewable energy industry, as well as traditional oil and gas. Working with clients across multiple geographies, Glenn understands the impact of surface and mineral rights on the ability of clients to develop their assets.
Additionally, Glenn has assisted clients in various transactions by providing due diligence services to clients buying and selling energy assets. Glenn also assists corporate and commercial clients in the formation and continued operation of various types of businesses, by assisting in the selection of the proper business model, assisting clients in all aspects of their operation, franchising, compliance with state and local regulations, succession planning, and real estate transactions. Glenn adds value to his clients and colleagues with his work as a Pennsylvania Title Insurance Agent.
While Glenn works with clients located across the country, a passion for Glenn is working with clients near his hometown of Meadville, Pennsylvania. Glenn provides outside general counsel services for a progressive rural electric cooperative, where he is able to assist in contract review, real estate transactions, exploring broadband, and corporate governance.
Representative Experience
- Issued subsurface title opinions to allow for the development of a utility and community scale solar projects in Western Pennsylvania
- Reviewed Interconnection Agreements, Construction Agreements, and Wholesale Market Participation Agreements between a large solar company and the regional electric utility
- Assisted energy clients in oil and gas acquisitions, financing and disposition transactions, and related third party opinion letters under both Pennsylvania and North Dakota law
- Managed oil and gas title examination projects, developed title opinion formats and performed both write up and senior review of hundreds of oil and gas title opinions to assist clients in acquiring desired property rights within the Appalachian region
- Acted as Pennsylvania counsel in complex arbitration involving hundreds of parcels in Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and Maryland
- Advised natural gas midstream clients on easement acquisition and amendment issues
- Advised electric generator on extent of use of public road rights of way
- Wrote title insurance commitments and negotiated endorsements for utility and community scale solar projects
- Developed Surface Non-Disturbance Agreements and worked with oil and gas companies to limit scope of easements
- Obtained court approval for purchase of real estate from estate as well as other title curative projects
- Helped client revise its solar option and lease agreements for use in Pennsylvania and help it negotiate options for leases in several counties
- Assisted client in $30 million acquisition of 14 convenience stores in six Pennsylvania counties
