Colton C. Parsons

Biography

Colton Parsons is no stranger to hard work. As a former coal miner and owner of multiple businesses, Colton offers his clients a unique perspective and skillset. Colton has experience in complex civil and commercial litigation, including supervising all litigation for a national client in West Virginia. Colton’s experience includes bet-the-company litigation and litigation arising from catastrophic incidents.

He also has experience representing clients in bankruptcy litigation and contract disputes. Colton has litigated numerous appeals before the Fourth Circuit, West Virginia Supreme Court of Appeals, and West Virginia Intermediate Court of Appeals. Colton’s client base includes a variety of clients including many of the top employers in the State of West Virginia.

  • Litigated West Virginia Consumer Credit and Protection Act claims for multiple clients including national retailer
  • Represented oil and gas operator in multi-million-dollar mechanic’s lien claims
  • Represented oil and gas operator in multi-million-dollar bankruptcy litigation
  • Routinely represent debtors and creditors in bankruptcy proceedings
  • Defended multi-million dollar class action in bankruptcy court
  • Represented engineering company in defense of engineering designs in negligence and breach of contract action
  • Successfully defended landlords in premises liability and negligence litigation (include appeals)
  • Defended numerous civil rights matters brought against officers, prison officials, and state agencies
  • Represented coal operator in multi-million dollar arbitration dispute with lessee
  • Represented coal operator and individual miners against MSHA in alleged violations of the Mine Act Section 110(c)
  • Represented coal operator in litigation involving fatalities where decedent’s estate alleges deliberate intent by the mine operator
  • Routinely contest MSHA citations and orders on behalf of coal operator
  • Represented lenders in breach of contract and collections proceedings
  • Represented lender in commercial real estate transactions
  • Obtained release of non-compete agreement for veterinarian threatened with suit
  • Assisted upstream and midstream oil and gas producers in emergency response to mitigate liability and ensure all applicable entities are notified
  • Drafted emergency response documents for upstream and midstream oil and gas producers
