The West Virginia Coal Association was formed in 1915 to promote the general welfare of the coal mining industry and to improve the industry’s service to the state and its citizens. Today, WVCA is comprised of companies that represent about 90% of the state’s annual coal production. The Association also includes a large and active membership of some 200 companies whose business is directly affiliated with the coal industry. WVCA represents its member companies before the State Legislature and to a wide variety of State and federal regulatory agencies. It also conducts educational seminars, produces and distributes informational material and serves as the industry’s primary contact with media and the public.
