ERISA/Employee Benefits Associate (SOUTHPOINTE, PA or COLUMBUS, OH)
Steptoe & Johnson is seeking an ERISA/Employee Benefits Associate with 3-5 years of experience in either its Southpointe, PA or Columbus, OH office (please indicate office preference in cover letter). Qualified candidates should have experience in compliance, design, and implementation of employee benefit plans, including qualified retirement plans, non-qualified deferred compensation plans, and health and welfare plans, as well as experience in client counseling regarding the same. The candidate should have 3-5 years of experience in a broad range of employee benefits matters, including drafting plan documents and participant communications for retirement and health and welfare plans; addressing benefits aspects of mergers and acquisitions; designing and negotiating employment and other executive compensation arrangements (including Sections 409A and 280G of the Internal Revenue Code); identifying and correcting ERISA fiduciary issues; and advising regarding Affordable Care Act compliance and reporting. Experience with preparing and submitting filings to the Internal Revenue Service, Department of Labor, and/or Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation is beneficial.
