BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – Steptoe & Johnson PLLC attorney John R. “Jack” Merinar Jr. has been inducted as a fellow of the College of Labor and Employment Lawyers. Merinar is the fifth Steptoe & Johnson attorney to be inducted as a fellow.
Merinar has been practicing law with Steptoe & Johnson for more than 27 years. His legal practice focuses on employment-related matters, specifically advising employers involved in union campaigns, negotiating labor agreements, and defending employers at trial. He has litigated cases in state and federal courts as well as before the Occupational Safety and Health Review Commission. Merinar regularly represents clients in a variety of industries including construction, ski resorts, and news media.
Merinar is a Marine Corps veteran and is named among The Best Lawyers in America® for 2020 in labor and employment law. He is a member of the board of directors for the West Virginia Associated Builders and Contractors. He is also an avid runner and swimmer and has served as a volunteer coach for local cross country and swim teams.
He earned his law degree from the University of Pittsburgh and his bachelor’s degree from Pennsylvania State University.
