Kevin E. Hess Joins Firm’s Labor and Employment Practice

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Kevin E. Hess has joined the Columbus office of Steptoe & Johnson PLLC.  His practice will focus on labor and employment matters including workplace safety and workers’ compensation. He represents an array of clients in industries including commercial farming, construction, health care, and manufacturing. 

“Kevin’s skills, particularly in the areas of OSHA and workers’ compensation matters, will add depth to the services we already offer labor and employment clients throughout the U.S.,” said Steptoe & Johnson CEO, Christopher L. Slaughter. “Kevin is adept at handling a range of issues for clients, both expected and unexpected. Hess defends clients in employment discrimination matters in state and federal courts. He also advocates for clients before agencies including the Ohio Industrial Commission and Bureau of Workers’ Compensation concerning medical reimbursement, self insurance, and rate assessments. He advises them on day-to-day employment-related issues including workplace safety, termination, OSHA compliance, labor relations, and employee accommodation.   

He is a regular speaker at seminars for human resources industry professionals and has been a featured speaker for the Columbus Claims Association. Hess earned his law degree from the University of Dayton School of Law and his bachelor’s degree from Messiah College. Hess has been named an Ohio Super Lawyers Rising Star annually since 2016.
