A Mine Safety & Health Seminar co-hosted by Steptoe & Johnson, Eagle Mine Safety, and Flick Safety Services, LLC helped to raise money for a scholarship fund for students in pursuit of an education related to mine safety.
The proceeds of the March event were recently presented to the Joseph A. Holmes Safety Association scholarship fund. The $4,000 check was presented by Steve Sandbrook from Eagle Mine Safety on behalf of all the sponsors including Steptoe & Johnson and Flick Safety Services. The contribution, the single largest donation to date, will help defray academic costs for students pursuing a field related to mining health and safety.
The March seminar gave attendees the opportunity to learn new ideas and approaches to improve safety and health performance in the workplace through effective training and hazard assessments. Steptoe & Johnson’s Michael Peelish delivered opening remarks and the goal of his presentation was to inform attendees how to approach the silica issues from exposure monitoring, to planning, data analysis, and corrective actions if needed.
