DALLAS – Bret Madole, Reid Barnes, and Ted Harrington have joined Steptoe & Johnson PLLC’s Dallas office in the firm’s Business Department. Madole joined the firm as a Member, and Barnes and Harrington joined as Associates.

“We’re happy to welcome this group of attorneys to our Dallas office,” said Christopher L. Slaughter, CEO of Steptoe & Johnson. “Their combined skillsets in corporate, mergers and acquisitions, and real estate law will be invaluable additions to the firm’s growing presence in Texas and the clients we serve.”

Bret’s vision and aptitude to grow practices will help the firm continue to build its DFW offices and Texas footprint. “The Texas market is a core part of our long-term strategic growth plan, and a major focus for me personally,” Slaughter said. “We now have 32 lawyers in the DFW market, 19 in The Woodlands, and 11 in San Antonio, for a total of 62 lawyers in Texas with more to come.”

Madole is a seasoned corporate attorney who brings nearly 40 years of experience in general corporate matters, mergers and acquisitions, banking, and intellectual property. He advises individuals and companies from startup, implementing successful strategies for resolving issues with trademark, copyright, employment, licensing, governance, contracts, leases, mergers and acquisitions, and related matters. He earned his law degree from the University of Virginia School of Law and his bachelor’s degree from Birmingham-Southern College.

Barnes focuses his practice on helping business clients navigate matters related to the development, ownership, and operations of commercial real estate properties, including medical facilities. He has experience in providing legal support, strategic planning, and business consulting services to a variety of clients including commercial landowners and developers. He earned his law degree from the University of Texas School of Law, and his bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at Austin.

Harrington advises lenders, borrowers, purchasers, and sellers on all aspects of commercial real estate including corporate lending and real estate financing, leases, infrastructure development and land planning, and title work. He earned his law degree from University of Minnesota Law School and his bachelor’s degree from Carleton College.

These additions to Steptoe & Johnson’s Dallas office, which opened in 2021, will strengthen the firm’s corporate offerings throughout Texas and beyond.
