Pittsburgh, PA – Nathan S. Catanese was recently selected by the Pennsylvania Bar Association (PBA) Real Property, Probate and Trust (RPPT) Law Section to receive the 2023 Trailblazer Award for probate and trust law. The award is given to young attorneys who practice in the real property and probate and trust areas of law and demonstrate excellence in the practice of law, professionalism through bar association activities, and a commitment to pro bono legal services.
Nathan is an Of Counsel in the firm’s Pittsburgh office and he focuses his practice in the areas of estate planning, estate and trust administration, charitable giving, tax-exempt organizations, and other tax and corporate matters. He also assists clients in wealth succession planning and advises nonprofits and religious organizations in formation and governance matters.
Nathan is very involved in both the community at large and the legal community. Through the Camp Catanese Foundation, of which he is a board member and serves as pro bono counsel, he works to help underprivileged students attend college preparedness camps and other similar programs. Nathan also advises many pro bono charitable clients on a variety of legal matters including estate planning, by counseling organizations and donors on planned charitable giving. He serves on several boards, through which he offers legal counsel on a variety of issues. He is also a volunteer with Cub Scout Pack 38 and his children’s school. In addition to being a member of the PBA’s RPPT Law Section, he is a member of the organization’s Charitable Organizations Committee and Tax Law Section. Nathan is also a Trusts and Estates Fellow for the American Bar Association Section on Real Property and Trusts and Estates and serves on the Probate and Trust Section Council for the Allegheny County Bar Association.
