Bridgeport, WV – David Morrison, an attorney in Steptoe & Johnson’s Bridgeport office, was selected by the West Virginia State Bar’s Young Lawyer Section as its 2023 Mentor of the Year. The award is given to a seasoned West Virginia attorney who has provided mentorship and guidance that helps young attorneys transition into the practice of law.
David is a Member in the firm’s Labor & Employment Department and has over 35 years of experience in helping clients with their unique employee situations that need untangling. He enjoys helping his clients with crafting creative solutions, allowing them to retain their integrity and follow the law. He has tried over 80 cases and arbitrations and has argued over 20 appeals before state and federal appeals courts. He often uses his experience to mentor and train young lawyers, helping them learn the importance of humanity in the practice of law.
The goal of the Young Lawyer Section of the West Virginia State Bar is to provide a means for personal and professional growth for young lawyers by encouraging participation in the activities of the West Virginia State Bar. They seek to accomplish this goal by implementing programs that promote education, leadership, and public service. In addition to providing such opportunities for young lawyers, they assist the West Virginia State Bar in its mission to improve the administration of justice and increase the legal services provided to the citizens of West Virginia.
