Zachary H. Barrett

Biography

A significant portion of Zach Barrett’s legal practice is advising clients on matters related to mineral title. Zach also works drafting and advising on transactional projects for coal clients, as well as oil and gas exploration and production clients throughout the Appalachian basin.

Representative Experience

  • Drafted documents and agreements on behalf of a coal mining company the divestiture of its “standard assets” and associated liabilities for cash consideration of approximately $325 million
  • Organized and coordinated due diligence review for the divestiture of 1,000 legacy wells across 20 counties in five states for a transaction worth more than $12 million
  • Provided due diligence for multiple transactions for the divestiture of thermal coal assets in West Virginia and Virginia
  • Provided guidance to a publicly traded oil and gas company in regard to property valuation and estimation of transfer taxes pursuant to a settlement agreement
